About Alexa
Hello fellow animal lover and pet parent! My name is Alexa Lacamera…also known as Dr. Dolittle. I am honored and excited that you are considering working with me to look after your fur babes! I have been an animal lover since just a child (hence the Dr. Dolittle nickname my parents dubbed me), and some would say, even an animal whisperer since I am so sensitive to their unspoken needs.
I deeply understand how important your pets are, because I have three myself. I LOVE my cats (Armin, Dash, and Lil’ Sir) more than life itself. They are such a significant part of my world and emotional wellbeing. This is why I extend the same level of care, attentiveness, and love to your fur kiddos as I do my own. If I look after your pets, you will receive multiple and consistent updates each time I visit the home. You should never be left guessing how they are or how the visit went. Leaving them is hard enough! I also include prayer in my process. Since becoming a Christian in 2020, I believe that God should be at the center of all things - even my pet care business. He loves animals deeply because He created them, so I ask Him for His protection over all of the animals I look after.
I have volunteered with many animal welfare organizations throughout my life, including PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) and SCRF (Stray Cat Relief Fund). I was on the board of SCRF in Philadelphia where I directed strategy, raised money, and was a foster parent to multiple moms and babies before adopting them out to homes. (I even rescued a litter of kittens and their mom from a car lot during a snowstorm after scaling an 8-foot fence! Anything for the animals!)
Throughout all of my life transitions, pet care has always been a constant, and now it is my full-time work. I even get to do it with my husband, which is a dream. About David
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved animals. Growing up, I had a Cockapoo named Ginger, who I nicknamed “De-wis”. All of my neighbors and friends had dogs, and we often got-together to play, which were some of the best memories of my childhood.
As for work, I work from home full-time in digital marketing for a marketing agency. I have also been helping Alexa with pet sitting clients. We now work as a team on bookings, as well as individually.
Up until a few years ago, I always looked at myself as a “dog person”. Since living with three cats for four years, I realized that I only considered myself a “dog person” because my family didn’t have cats growing up (stupid allergies). I never thought there would be a time in my life where I would be living with three cats… until I met my wife. I also never thought I would be calling three cats my best friends. Armin, Dash, and Lil’ Sir have become such a major part of my family and I love them dearly. I look forward to meeting your pet and making them apart of my family as well.
